Admissions Process – How To Apply

Step 1: Make an enquiry and tell us a little about your child.

We will then be in touch to discuss your interest in the school and to check availability in the relevant year group.

Step 2: Book a visit/Open Day

There is no substitute for a visit to our lovely community, so we would be delighted to welcome you to discuss your son or daughter’s journey with us. Experience the atmosphere and meet our Head, staff and wonderful pupils during a small group tour, or join one of our Open Mornings.

Either way you will have the opportunity to see our school in action and experience the Avenue House buzz for yourself.

Step 3: Registration Form

Following your visit to school you will be sent a registration form which you can fill in and return when you have made the decision to apply. A registration fee of £120 is required at this point and your child will be invited to attend a taster session.

Step 4: Trial Session/Assessment

Every child is unique and we are looking for children who will flourish and thrive in our environment taking full advantage of our outstanding provision. To this end, all children attend a taster session so that we can observe their potential and their attitude to learning.

Informal assessment and familiarisation is the focus of these sessions.

For our youngest pupils this takes the form of a ‘stay and play’ session and through the school this progresses to, participating in written work alongside the peer group with which they are spending the trial session.

This is designed to allow each applicant to demonstrate their strengths and include a wide range of elements beyond simple ‘tests’. It is important that our pupils enjoy every moment of their time with us and that begins with the trial day for prospective pupils.

Step 5: Offer of a place

Following a successful trial day, an offer of a place will be sent to you. To secure your child’s place, a deposit is required upon acceptance. Should we feel that the school is not a good fit for your child, we will let you know. and offer a discussion if you would like further detail.

For children with additional needs, you may be required to have a discussion with our SENCo who may also arrange to observe your child in their current setting.
